Lamentations 1

This chapter of Lamentations motivates me to really set my eyes on the Lord and not stray from Him. Many times I have been in this women's shoes, and it's miserable!

V. 1 - She "once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave." Probably most of us have experienced that... walking with the Lord at one point and a slave to our sin the next.

V. 2- "Bitterly she weeps at night" Ummm..yes!! Been there too! "There is no one to comfort her. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies." How often do we search for comfort from our friends, family, boyfriends, spouses, etc only to be disappointed? In times of desperation, only the Lord can comfort us and bring us peace. So many relationships have been destroyed because of the lie that our significant other is the one to fill the void. It's impossible for a human being to do.

V. 5 - "Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe." What we do now affects our children in the future.

V. 7 - "In the days of her affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers all the treasures that were hers in the says of old." When you follow the Lord, you store up your treasures in heaven. When you sin, you have nothing of value.

V. 8 - "All who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness." When we fall into a sinful life, our reputations are at stake.

V. 9 - "Her filthiness clung to her skirts; she did not consider her future." Everything we do now and all the decisions we make affects our future. We must make the decision NOW to walk with God, not later. There might not be a later.

V. 18 - "The Lord is righteous, yet I rebelled against his command. Listen, all you peoples; look upon my suffering." V. 20 "See, O Lord, how distressed I am! I am in torment within, and in my heart I am disturbed, for I have been most rebellious. Outside, the sword bereaves; inside, there is only death." We must use her story as an example and choose now to set our sight on Heavenly things and keep God the priority in our lives. If we choose to sin, we choose a life apart from God. A life apart from God leads to death and suffering.

Lord, thank you for your faithfulness and forgiveness for the times we have been apart from you, and I pray that we never lose sight of you. Thank you for your word that we may learn and grow from it. We love you and praise you. Amen

Good night all!
